Deuterium production on moons (Synthesizer and Storage)
Introduction
In OGX, moons are not only fleet and sensor platforms – they can also produce Deuterium.
By building a Deuterium Synthesizer on a moon, you can turn it into an additional fuel source that supports your fleets and advanced technologies.
This page explains how Deuterium production works specifically on moons.
Deuterium Synthesizer on moons
On a moon, the Deuterium Synthesizer works in the same way as on a planet:
- Each level increases the moon’s Deuterium production.
- Each level also increases Energy consumption.
- Production depends on:
- Synthesizer level.
- Universe economy speed.
- Account or global bonuses (VIP, events, etc.).
- The temperature of the location (moons usually share the temperature profile of their parent planet).
As long as the moon has enough Energy and storage capacity, Deuterium is produced continuously and added to the moon’s resource stock.
Energy on moons
To run the Deuterium Synthesizer, the moon must have enough Energy. Depending on universe settings, you can use:
- Solar Plant
- Fusion Reactor
- Solar Satellites
Key points:
- If available Energy is lower than total consumption, Deuterium production is reduced or may stop.
- A high-level Synthesizer without sufficient Energy support will not reach its theoretical output.
- A balanced setup (Energy buildings + Synthesizer) is required for an efficient Deuterium moon.
Deuterium storage on moons
Deuterium produced on a moon is stored in the local Deuterium Tank:
- Each Deuterium Tank level increases the maximum amount of Deuterium the moon can hold.
- When the Tank reaches 100 % capacity, further production is lost until you:
- Spend Deuterium (fleets, trades, transports).
- Upgrade the Deuterium Tank.
Just like planets, moons have their own independent storage – resources are not shared automatically between different bodies.
Why produce Deuterium on moons?
Using moons for Deuterium production offers several advantages:
- Create fuel depots close to your main fleet locations.
- Reduce the need to transport Deuterium from distant colonies.
- Diversify your economy so you are not fully dependent on a single planet.
Common uses:
- A “main operations moon” that both hosts your fleets and provides Deuterium for launches.
- One or more “cold moons” specialized in Deuterium production (depending on temperature and universe settings).
Strategy tips
- Build Deuterium Synthesizers on moons that are already important for your fleet activity (sensor phalanx, jump gate, etc.).
- Always pair Synthesizer upgrades with enough Energy and Deuterium Tank levels.
- Avoid letting your moon hit 100 % Deuterium storage for long periods – this wastes production.
- Use moons to centralise Deuterium for big operations (long-range attacks, expeditions, fleetsaves).
